Viewing this Website

(1)        Screen Size and Font Sizes

This website was developed with a minimum screen size of 800 x 600 pixels in mind. The image layouts and font sizes were chosen in accordance with this size. The Firefox browser allows you to adjust the size of HTML text by pressing Ctrl - and Ctrl +. Pressing Ctrl 0 sets the fonts back to their default sizes. Note that large changes in font size may make a mess of a nice web page layout (this is true for any website). Also note that some of the text on this site (such as the text on the menu sidebar and on the page navigation bar) is displayed via graphical images and is thus not resizable by the aforementioned method (and thus, it will continue to look good even if you do make radical font size changes). The Opera browser allows magnification of all the content on a web page, thus avoiding the problem of destroying nice layouts, but text thus magnified often looks very "blocky", and the display is slower.

(2)        Lighting Conditions

Many of the images on this site, especially the mount colours, are best viewed under good lighting conditions. It is important to avoid strong, direct light (including overhead lighting) on your monitor, as this tends to create reflections and fade the colours on your monitor. For optimum viewing of the images on this site, you should also adjust the brightness and contrast of your monitor until you can distinguish all tones in the chart below. Because there is no "web standard" for viewing colours on a monitor, the colours that you see on the web will not (in general) exactly match the colours of a mount, but every effort has been made to minimise any differences that may exist.

JavaScript must be enabled in order to browse this site properly.

JavaScript, a client-side scripting language built into all contemporary browsers, in used on this site :

(4)        Browsers

The most common browsers currently available are Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, and Opera. This website was developed using Firefox and tested on other browsers to ensure compatibility. Due to the seemingly endless discoveries of critical security flaws in Internet Explorer, as well as its poor support of web standards, it is recommended that you use another browser for all your internet surfing. Firefox and Opera and both free and available on a wide variety of platforms.
