The Bainbridge White Core range is the highest quality standard board and offers a pure white, non-yellowing core favoured by most professional framers today. The solidCore range by Arqadia are the mountboards that we most commonly use for all our conservation/museum work. Bainbridge conservation mounts tend to have an interlaced texture which is undesirable by many consumers. Arqadia SolidCore mounts are made from high-quality, bleached alpha-cellulose in 1, 2, 3, or 4 ply. SolidCore is ideal when a high degree of protection is considered necessary. A popular, long-standing board within the frame market, used by framers and art galleries for the protection of art and also for archival purposes

• The boards are lignin-free
• Thickness 1500 micron (1.4 mm) or 2100 micron (2.1 mm)
• Only natural pigments are used which are fade and bleed resistant
• Water-soluble extracts are minimal i.e. chloride below 0.05%, sulphate below 0.25%
• Buffered with calcium carbonate, minimum 3.5 wt%
• Passes the Silver Tarnish Test and photographic-activity test making it suitable for mounting precious photographs
• Neutral pH adhesive, buffered by calcium carbonate
• Plasticizer-free adhesive

The white core range from Arqadia is extensive, however we presently only order Arqadia mountboard on request. We continue to stock a limited range of colours, however you should visit us if you would like to see the complete range available from Arqadia

We recommend a 50 mm margin at the top and sides with 60 mm at the bottom. The wider bottom margin is standard practise to prevent your picture looking top heavy. Remember that the mount card must overlap the artwork by at least 6 mm all round your artwork to hold it in place. We can in certain cases reduce this requirement to a minimum of 4 mm overlap.
If you require a double mount card of the same or complimentary colour, please allow for at least 5 mm overlap, although the amount of inner, or lowermost mount, showing is down to personal preference. As a general rule, to compliment your picture the outer or uppermost mount is a lighter colour than the inner one.

• Metallic mounts - match a gold frame with a metallic gold mount or silver with silver
• 'V' grooving - an extra decorative effect to add something different
• Suede mounts, to give a luxurious feel to your artwork
